India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. The place is great, if your looking for South Indian food, it's cheap & tastes good, what sucks is they don't have a lot of options unlike most fusion places. It's Great if your in the mood for South Indian tho, and the food is fresh!

The food here is very tasty and fresh. However, the ambience is not- I always prefer to get take out. Their punjabi dal is one of the best dals I have had in the area. Overall I would definitely recommend it :)

Went there for the first time ever with a large family group. Would not say that the food is A-rate but not a bad place for a bite that does'nt leave you with a bad taste in your mouth either. Since it was a weekday didnt run into crowds and we were able to find a place to sit and eat. Have to say that the grand-pa who greets you is almost a "mascot" - you have to hand it to the guy who works this enthusiastically at this age as well. Had the "Chana Bhatura" and was not disappointed - pretty decent and not a bad choice if you dont feel like having anything else from the South Indian cuisine ... The availability of "Thumbs-Up" was a refresher and sent me dashing down memory lane! The "Paav-Bhaaji" is strongly recommended for a starter - will definitely go back to sample more and come to a more concrete conclusion!

This is next to the KFC which always confuses us in Beekman Plaza (it's spelled out as kentucky fried chicken on the marquee in plain, non-KFC lettering, and we have a tendency to think, Oh! Real Southern Chicken! Wait, it's KFC). We thought of eating here last night, went inside, but it was one of those brightly lit take-away type places with a few tables and menu pre-printed with photos above the counter. Basically, a take away lunch place with formica tables and a glass front without shades. We may order take away from here sometime, but decided that it wasn't a sit-down dinner type place, and instead discovered Abhiruchi, which has since become our favourite Indian place.

Not a huge fan. The portion size was pretty small for the price. Bummed that they didn't have naan. The whole point of indian food is the delicious sauce and to have good bread to soak up whatever is left on your plate. Roti does not cut it. Kendall park is full of indian places, so I don't think I'll be back. I'm sure everyone said this too, but don't bother eating in - the atmosphere is cheap takeout joint.

this small place serves "authentic south indian fast food" (as per their menu). the atmosphere is not their biggest selling point, there are some seats and not much decor, but their food is absolutely amazing. this place is perfect for foodies who go after the tasty food, probably not the best place to impress a first date (unless you are certain he/she is a foodie :-) ). they serve idli, vada, chats, dosa, ravadosa, uttapam among other south indian specialities, and, of course, various rice dishes. samosa chat is definitely something worth trying, and their dosas are incredible. just be careful when ordering "spicy", it can be difficult to handle for a typical u.s. eater. the price is very low (one can get a large meal & lassi for under $10). this is definitely one of my favorite places to go for a great meal for a great value.
